Frequently Asked Questions

What is ecstatic dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a conscious movement practice that invites people to drop out of their minds and into their bodies to unwind and open to inner wisdom. Dance, Music and Cacao Medicine are the center point of these ceremonies catalyzing ecstatic states, where conscious mind limitations dissolve, opening the doors to the vast subconscious intelligence. It is an opportunity to connect deeply with self and others in fun ways words cannot express. A gracious experience to meet yourself as you are and open a space where you can see beyond who you think you are… It’s about you, freedom, joy and honesty.

This journey offers a space to develop self-awareness, be moved by deep emotions, expand your intuitive awareness and align your actions with your intentions.

Ecstatic Dance Agreements

To maintain ultimate freedom we agree to the following:

  1. No talking on the Dancefloor
  2. No cellphones, no pictures/video
  3. No street shoes on the Dancefloor (light, soft shoes are allowed)
  4. No showing up drunk or drugged
  5. No wearing of scent
  6. Respect the Space – Others’ Space and the Collective Space.

When Approaching others:

  • Listen for a Yes (get eye contact first)
  • Respect any No (when they are ignoring you)
  • Respect the Solo Dancers’ Right to Their Space
  • Hands in prayer at heart means: “I see you, and thank you for the dance (that just ended).”

You will be asked to leave if you do not follow these agreements.

Thank you!

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement practice where participants dance without judgment or instruction. It’s a space to express yourself, connect with others, and experience the joy of movement.

What can I expect at an Ecstatic Dance event?

A typical session includes a warm-up, a main dance session with a variety of music, and a closing circle or meditation. The atmosphere is supportive and non-judgmental, encouraging free expression.

What kind of music is played?

The music varies widely, from soothing ambient sounds to energetic electronic beats, world music, and everything in between. The goal is to create a dynamic and immersive experience.

What do we do?

In this space, all are welcomed into radical self-expression and acceptance. Do yoga, stretch, dance like no one is watching, or just chill and enjoy the music.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Be prepared to sweat, so breathable fabrics are recommended. Many participants wear yoga clothes or similar attire.

Can I come alone, or do I need to bring a partner?

Absolutely! Many people come alone and find it a great way to meet new friends and connect with the community. You can dance alone or with others as you feel comfortable.

Do I need any prior dance experience to participate?

No dance experience is necessary! Ecstatic Dance is about how it feels, not how it looks. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their dance background.

Do I need to RSVP or register in advance?

Yes, we kindly ask that you RSVP or register in advance for our Ecstatic Dance events. This helps us ensure that we can provide the best experience for all participants by managing the number of attendees and preparing the space accordingly.

Why RSVP?

How can I prepare for my first session?
  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water before and after the session.
  • Arrive Early: Give yourself time to settle in and get comfortable.
  • Open Mind: Come with an open heart and be ready to let go and enjoy the experience.
Why can’t I talk on the dance floor?

Talking can take you out of the experience and disrupt others. The silence helps everyone stay present and fully engaged in the movement.

For cacao ceremony

The Cacao Ceremony is scheduled once a month – check the schedule for details.

It is often suggested to not eat for 6 hours before consuming cacao for the ceremony. While this is definitely an invitation into a full experience, please be mindful of what your body needs.

Drink a lot of water during the day prior to the ceremony. Bring also a bottle of water with you to drink during the dance.

Cacao will dilate your blood vessels generating an expansive state in all your senses. Being well hydrated will ensure you have enough fluids in your expanded vascular system.

Free parking available onsite.
